My new studio space<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I’m now working in my new studio, for the entire month of September, in Reykjavik, Iceland as part of the SIM Residency. I arrived yesterday and started setting up my studio, but I was so jetlagged, I needed a little time to adjust to my new surroundings. It was cold and rainy and but felt oddly familiar, like late fall in Vancouver, and after a night of loud wind and rain banging against my windows, I woke up to a beautiful day.<\/p>\n

I took this opportunity to walk around and discover my new city for a few hours, and I’ll be posting photos soon of my new surroundings. In the meantime, here are some photos of my new work space. I know I’ve said it before, but I really do think I’ve lucked out in terms of studio spaces throughout the years. My space is overlooking the ocean, where I can watch the waves and seabirds and apparently whales sometimes make an appearance too.<\/p>\n

It usually takes a while to get into the groove of things when in a new studio space. I have to get used to working on a desk\/table, as I usually work with my drawings and paintings straight up on the wall. This is going to take some getting used to, as I find that the angle of working this way affects the perspective of my drawing.<\/p>\n
