My exhibition Of Myth and Men,<\/em>\u00a0at Initial Gallery, came down a couple of weeks ago, and I\u2019ve now had the time to digest everything. Thank you to everyone who came out to see my solo show. The exhibition\u2019s opening night and artist talk were both well attended, and there was a steady stream of traffic throughout the run of the show. It\u2019s always interesting to hear what others think of my work, and on a few occasions, I met people at the gallery\u00a0who talked to me about their experience of my work. One of the great things about showing at a gallery with\u00a0high visibility is that the walk-in traffic varies so much from young to old, students to artists, locals to tourists. I found the ones who asked the hardest questions were often the youngest children! They weren\u2019t inhibited by anything and would ask question after question, dissecting the work with their curious minds.<\/p>\n

I spend months, if not years, creating a series of work in my studio, and I often feel anxious to get the work outside of the studio, so that it can be seen by people. While creating the art,\u00a0it\u2019s a very private and personal experience, as I\u2019m in my quiet studio working alone, one on one with the painting. Putting it out in the public can be both nerve wracking and liberating. Once it\u2019s out there, it\u2019s out there to do its own thing. And it\u2019s out there to be seen. And on this occasion, it was seen and chosen to be featured on the cover of the new summer issue of Ricepaper<\/em> magazine.<\/p>\n

Liger, Liger (Chimera)<\/em> was chosen for the front cover of the newest issue of Ricepaper<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>magazine.\u00a0Ricepaper<\/em>\u00a0is a quarterly Canadian magazine which has showcased Asian Canadian\u00a0literature,\u00a0culture, and the\u00a0arts\u00a0since 1994.\u00a0You can find\u00a0Ricepaper<\/em>\u00a0in stores across Canada.<\/p>\n

Next up, I\u2019m busy preparing for my two-person show in Calgary at The New Gallery this October. This will include an artist talk at the University of Calgary, and I will be in attendance for the opening night.
