{"id":725,"date":"2010-12-21T21:13:32","date_gmt":"2010-12-22T05:13:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/roselinahung.com\/blog\/?p=725"},"modified":"2024-03-19T00:19:24","modified_gmt":"2024-03-19T07:19:24","slug":"busy-preparations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/roselinahung.com\/blog\/busy-preparations\/","title":{"rendered":"Busy Preparations"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure style=\"width: 420px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" \" title=\"Pencils\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.roselinahung.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/pencils.jpg?resize=420%2C280\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"280\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Drawing in the studio<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While everyone is busy getting ready for Christmas, I&#8217;m also busy getting ready for Banff!\u00a0 It&#8217;s not long now until I start my residency, and as there are no art supply stores in Banff, I have to ship everything over.\u00a0 So I&#8217;ve been busy in the studio preparing canvases and other painting surfaces to bring over.\u00a0 Preparing blank canvases is a really slow and laborious process.\u00a0 Each canvas takes a few hours to prepare, with layers of gesso, sanding each layer after it&#8217;s dried, and my fingers often get raw from stretching the rough canvas over the boards&#8230;it&#8217;s the slow and boring (and painful!) part of the painting process!\u00a0 But it&#8217;s exciting too&#8230;a blank canvas means lots of possibilities.\u00a0 I look forward to showing you all the work that I will be doing while in Banff.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 420px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.roselinahung.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/blank_canvases.jpg?resize=420%2C280\" alt=\"\" width=\"420\" height=\"280\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Blank canvases &amp; boards - ready for Banff!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As I didn&#8217;t really have enough time to start a new painting this month, I decided to do some sketches and ink drawings.\u00a0\u00a0 Here is a photo of my latest pencil and pencil crayon sketch.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 420px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" \" title=\"Sketch &amp; Daphne sketch with pencil and pencil crayons<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Continuing with my myth series, which I plan on continuing and developing while on my residency, this sketch is based on the story of <a title=\"Apollo &amp;
