I will be showing my series, pretty boys kill me, in a two-person exhibition with Stacy Lundeen, at The New Gallery in Calgary, Alberta.
Pretty Boys, You Owe Me unites two artists who both work with text, self-deprecation, and lust. Karly Mortimer’s accompanying essay elaborates on the role of narcissism and obsession in romantic relationships. “Relation to the Other,” she writes, “Even asymmetrical, and open without reciprocation must trace a movement of re-appropriation in the image of oneself for love to be possible. Love is narcissistic.” Visit The New Gallery website to read the full exhibition text by Karly Mortimer.
