36 hours and counting…

Roselina Hung – hard (detail), pencil crayon on paper, 28 x 38 in (2012)

I have around 36 hours left now before the end of my Indiegogo campaign, and firstly, I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of support.  It means a great deal to me and thank you so much.  I’m very close to reaching my goal of raising $2500 to attend the SIM Residency in Reykjavik, Iceland this September.  I still can’t believe that I’m going to be in Iceland so soon!

I’m now only a few hundred dollars short of reaching my goal, so if you haven’t contributed yet and would like to, please visit my Indiegogo campaign.  It ends at Wednesday August 22 at 11:59PM PT, so there’s still some time left!

I wanted to share some close up photographs of the first drawing from the pretty boys kill me series.  It’s hard to capture in the larger photographs, but the letters of the text are actually erased out from the drawing.  So I actually fill up the entire paper with pencil crayon and then erase the text out, leaving a subtle hint of text.  I like the fact that, when viewing the larger works, you can’t really focus on both the faces in the drawing and the text at the same time – they must be read separately.

I’m also very excited to confirm that I will be having a solo exhibition of this series, which I’ll be working on while in Iceland, next April at Gallery Fukai in Vancouver. Please check my blog throughout September for updates on my progress while in Reykjavik.
