A little kit of twigs, paper and foam<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Today I picked up a kit of twigs, paper and foam.\u00a0 What for?\u00a0 Well, I’m taking part in an exhibition at Emily Carr University of Art + Design<\/a> next Saturday, and I have one week to create something out of this pre-defined kit of materials.\u00a0 The exhibition, titled TWIGS PAPER FOAM<\/a>, no less, is part of a series of events held by the Continuing Studies department of Emily Carr called Design in the Field<\/em>.\u00a0 This specific one-night exhibition is put together in conjunction with 221A Artist Run Centre<\/a>.<\/p>\n

To say this is a bit unlike anything I’ve done before is a bit of an understatement.\u00a0 Or rather…it’s been a while since I’ve worked with stuff like this…probably not since first year university!\u00a0 I thought it would be a good challenge, to work with materials I usually don’t work with, and hopefully it will bring something new into my other work too.\u00a0 And no doubt, my current work will find its way into this project in some way.\u00a0 A little bit of symbiosis can go a long way.\u00a0 Working with a very specific time restraint also helps get the ideas flowing, so I already have a vague idea of what I plan to do with these materials.\u00a0 I’ll have to see if it will be physically feasible, however, as I really am limited to just the materials you see, other than a little glue or string.<\/p>\n

Keep checking my blog this week as I’ll be updating it with my progress.\u00a0 And I hope some of you will come down to the one-night exhibition, taking place on June 25th from 6-9 pm in the Emily Carr Concourse Gallery, at 1399 Johnston Street, on Granville Island.\u00a0 There will be 50 pieces on show, by different artists and designers.<\/p>\n

This could get very interesting….\u00a0 At least it will be fun…hopefully!\u00a0 I’m just excited I got a package with some green paper in it.\u00a0 Oh, the possibilites!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
