The Eastside Culture Crawl took place this last weekend, and large crowds braved the torrential downpour and still made it to this annual arts event.\u00a0 I’m always amazed when I hear that people come from out of town especially for the Crawl, and it’s great that people do!\u00a0 It’s a fun event for everyone, and people of all ages fill the studios for 3 days out of the year.\u00a0 There’s such a variety of arts and crafts to be seen in this city, hidden away on the eastside in unassuming buildings that are actually filled with artists and amazing work.\u00a0 The one downside of it all is that I never get to see the other artists’ open studios, and I hear such great things about the Crawl.\u00a0 Some day…!<\/p>\n

Being on the cover of The Georgia Straight certainly helped get the word out there about my artwork and studio.\u00a0 I really enjoy meeting people during the Crawl and hearing what they have to say.\u00a0 People often apologize that they are giving a layperson’s view on my art, but I think that everyone’s opinion is equally valid and interesting.\u00a0 Everyone is able to offer a different view, and I think that art should be open to interpretation and understanding by all.\u00a0 One of the definite highlights of the Crawl is being able to talk with people about art in an open and casual setting.<\/p>\n
