So the main reason for this trip to Italy was for my sister’s wedding in Positano. There were no Italians involved in the wedding. My sister and her fianc\u00e9 just wanted to get married in Italy, and why not! They certainly picked a beautiful location for the wedding. Positano is on the Amalfi Coast, and it’s not the easiest town to get to, with many winding roads along the side of the coast, but the views were stunning. And a trip to the island of Capri was also on the agenda, with a running theme of blue.<\/p>\n

On the first night in Positano, we took a stroll on the beach. The beach was made up of small round stones and many pieces of different coloured tiles that had been smoothed out by the ocean. While walking, something caught my eye, something that looked just a bit out of place. It was getting dark and the beach was lit mainly by the moonlight and the glow of the buildings on the side of the hill. I crouched down and picked up what caught my eye and was surprised to find it was a large round chunk of sea glass, about 1.5 inches in diametre. The biggest piece I’ve ever seen! And I have a hard time imagining where such a large chunk of glass came from. It hasn’t been in the ocean long enough to be completely smoothed over, so it still has a bit of grit to it and looks more sugary than soft. But it’s my treasure find in Positano – a needle in a haystack.<\/p>\n
