I had a lot of interest in the custom wallpaper design I created for my solo exhibition, pretty boys kill me<\/em>, and I’m happy to announce that it is now available for sale on my website<\/a>. For the past few years, I’ve been working more and more with patterns and repetition and so wallpaper as art seemed natural to me.<\/p>\n

The design is based on the illustrator Charles Dana Gibson’s wallpaper of his famous Gibson’s girls, aptly titled\u00a0Design for Wallpaper \u2013 Suitable for a Bachelor Apartment (1902).\u00a0<\/em>I wanted to do a play on his pattern but with effeminate men’s faces instead, with\u00a0Gibson\u2019s satirical interpretation of romantic longing and female beauty replaced by an earnest look at male beauty.<\/p>\n

The pretty boys kill me\u00a0<\/em>wallpaper was created from my ink pen drawings that I scanned and digitally laid out in a repeat pattern. I’m currently selling this artist made special edition wallpaper in rolls of\u00a024 x 144 inches (2 x 12 feet). The repeat occurs every 12 inches, and with a single roll you can cover 24 square feet. I actually hung the wallpaper for my exhibition with a couple of friends, and it was relatively easy as the paper has been pre-pasted, so you just wet and apply it to the wall.\u00a0Digitally printed on a durable PVC-free paper, it was also easy to remove when the time came to take the show down.<\/p>\n
