Vessels

At a museum, while explaining to my daughter what a vessel was, I realized that I had been a vessel for her. That moment led me to my current sculptural series and to thinking about the body as container, particularly in relation to femininity and motherhood.

After a ten-year hiatus from my art practice to raise my daughter, the Vessels series emerged from my interest in how maternal experience reshapes both physical and psychological identities.

I intentionally break and remake ceramic vessels, repairing them with mosaic. Semi-precious stones and glass beads are laid over the cracks, transforming materials traditionally associated with ornament into structures of reinforcement.
