Crawling all weekend

The Eastside Culture Crawl took place this last weekend, and large crowds braved the torrential downpour and still made it to this annual arts event.  I’m always amazed when I hear that people come from out of town especially for the Crawl, and it’s great that people do!  It’s a fun event for everyone, and people of all ages fill the studios for 3 days out of the year.  There’s such a variety of arts and crafts to be seen in this city, hidden away on the eastside in unassuming buildings that are actually filled with artists and amazing work.  The one downside of it all is that I never get to see the other artists’ open studios, and I hear such great things about the Crawl.  Some day…!

Being on the cover of The Georgia Straight certainly helped get the word out there about my artwork and studio.  I really enjoy meeting people during the Crawl and hearing what they have to say.  People often apologize that they are giving a layperson’s view on my art, but I think that everyone’s opinion is equally valid and interesting.  Everyone is able to offer a different view, and I think that art should be open to interpretation and understanding by all.  One of the definite highlights of the Crawl is being able to talk with people about art in an open and casual setting.

I also had quite a few people enquire about commissioning art work.  I do paint commissions and if you are interested, please feel free to contact me by e-mail and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have about pricing and sizes.

While I specialize in human portraits, I have also been ask about pet portraits before (that’s my little Maltese dog with attitude in the painting She wanted to do more than just pass), so please get in touch if you are thinking about commissioning a painting.

Also, at this year’s Crawl, I was offering greeting cards and giclée prints for sale.  If you missed this opportunity or would like to purchase more cards or prints, please get in touch.  You can also visit my Etsy store to buy the greeting cards online.  I will be extending my $25 giclée pricing, so you can buy these on my website now.

Thanks again for everyone that made it out to the event this weekend!
