While preparing for my large pretty boys kill me drawings, I’ve been doing small studies and sketches. There is a very intimate and delicate quality to these small drawings, and I find them interesting in and of themselves, even if they are meant to be studies for the larger works. I brought a few of them with me to Iceland to work from, and while I was here, someone suggested I put a small book together of them. I had had the idea before leaving for Iceland, so when the opportunity presented itself here, that there was a reputable printer and a small bookshop that could sell copies at, I decided to go for it. Within a week of the suggestion, I had my little book in my hands. I will be offering them for sale during my exhibition today, but if you are in Reykjavik, they are also available at Útúrdúr, an excellent little bookshop and artist publisher that specializes in selling art books, magazines, catalogues and zines.
My little book, which is A6 size (148 x 105 mm or 5.8 x 4.1 in), has 12 pages. I’ve made them a numbered limited edition of 50. They will also be available for sale on my website soon, after I return to Vancouver at the beginning of next month.
In the meantime, here are some pictures to give you a preview of my self-published book, pretty boys kill me.
If you would like to buy my book in Reykjavik, please visit Útúrdúr at Hverfisgata 42, 101 Reykjavík. For information on their opening hours, please visit their Facebook page. Or drop by our exhibition today!
